Special Awards from National, Regional and Local Organizations
WSSEF Science Teacher of the Year
The WSSEF is proud to recognize students who participate in the fair with more than $1,800,000 in scholarships, prizes and awards.
WSSEF sponsored awards are for first, second, and third place, and for honorable mention.
Numerous professional and technical organizations, corporations, government entities and individuals sponsor special awards for students’ grades 1 through 12. The judging criteria for the awards, and the awards themselves, vary widely. Past awards have included college tuition scholarships, scientific equipment, plaques, books, subscriptions, academic competition opportunities, as well as monetary awards.
Each year, the top high school projects are selected for an all expense paid trip to represent WSSEF and Washington State at the Intel International Science & Engineering Fair. This is the world Olympics of high school science, and includes about 1,800 entrants from 80 countries world-wide.
