Junior Science & Humanities Symposium

  • The 2024 Washington Junior Science and Humanities Symposium will not be hosted by the Washington State Science & Engineering Fair and Naval Undersea Museum Foundation.  Please refer to the jshs.org website, https://jshs.org/region/washington/ to be eligible to compete.
  • We apologize for any inconvenience, but the National JSHS / NSTA has chosen not to renew our contract for 2024.  We tirelessly tried to get the contract renewed for you.
  • We are proud to have hosted the Washington JSHS for the last three years and we are even more proud of you and your accomplishments.
  • We hope you came away with a better understanding of our DoD partners through the presentations and tours of our local military installations and enjoyed the amenities Kitsap County offers.
  • We congratulate you and encourage you to continue your science and engineering endeavors.

The Washington State Science & Engineering Fair (WSSEF) and the Naval Undersea Museum Foundation (NUMF) proudly hosted the Washington State 2021, 2022 and 2023 Junior Science & Humanities Symposium (JSHS).

The 2021 Washington JSHS was during the pandemic and held virtually.   In 2022 and 2023 the Washington JSHS was in-person and we welcomed Oregon JSHS students.  Each year the students gathered, presented their inquiry-based research, shared experiences and made new friends within the science and engineering community.

Our regional JSHS program embraced our Department of Defense military neighbors.  In particular, the U.S. Navy with tours onboard an active-duty submarine at SUBASE Bangor, touring the Naval Undersea Museum at “Torpedo Town” Keyport as well as the USS Turner Joy, DD-951 and the Puget Sound Navy Museum in Bremerton.

Congratulations Washington & Oregon JSHS 2022 Students!
